Private Chauffeur Paris: “I never tell anyone who I drive”

We spoke with Paris, a 27-year-old private chauffeur. In this interview, he talks about the importance of discretion and why the best ride is the one you don’t even think about afterwards. From Amsterdam to Monaco and from short airport transfers to multi-day assignments for clients with their own private jets.

How long have you been working as a chauffeur?

My name is Paris, I’m 27 years old, and I’ve been working as a private chauffeur for Taylor for about three years now. I didn’t start out as a taxi driver, I began working for a High Net Worth individual straight away.

What training did you complete?

I completed the CCV D1 programme, which is the training for executive chauffeurs.

During that training you learn how to drive smoothly and comfortably, and a lot about safety. For example: being aware of your surroundings, reading the road, and anticipating what’s happening around you.

What do you consider most important as a private chauffeur?

The goal is always to get the client from A to B as safely as possible. But I also think it’s important to be service-oriented and to make sure the client is satisfied.

Ideally, the client shouldn’t even notice you’re there. The car is always quiet. There’s never any music on.

“The car is always quiet, and we only speak if the client wants to.”

Do you also avoid talking?

We only speak to the client if they speak to us first. We generally ask very few open questions and keep our answers short and simple. Only when the client clearly wants conversation do we become a bit more talkative.

But we never talk about politics or religion. You don’t want to bother a client with anything that isn’t relevant to them.

If you're at a birthday party and people ask what you do, what do you say?

I simply say I’m a private chauffeur transporting people in the luxury segment. But I never talk about who gets into my car. That’s discretion, you just don’t talk about that.

It’s also the reason people choose a private chauffeur instead of a taxi. We transport celebrities who prefer that no one knows they’re in the country. If they take a taxi, word spreads quickly. With us, nothing ever gets out.

What kinds of rides do you typically do?

It depends on the day. Sometimes I spend the entire day doing Schiphol–Amsterdam transfers. But I also travel abroad quite often. I once had a client who travelled with his own private jet but wanted me to be ready to pick him up at each destination. In the end, I drove all the way to Madrid to transport him.

Why didn’t this client use local chauffeurs?

I think he was simply very satisfied with us. For a client, it’s incredibly reassuring to always see the same face. It creates trust, you know exactly what to expect from someone.

How do you want people to look back on their booking?

I prefer it when people barely think about it afterwards. That’s when I know everything went perfectly.

"We hold the right certifications and we’re discreet. You can rely on that 100%."

Has anything ever gone wrong?

Haha, yes, there’s one ride I’ll never forget. It was supposed to be a five-minute trip, but I knew a faster route that was only three minutes. Unfortunately, I got stuck behind a truck that was loading and unloading. The driver wanted to move, but it simply wouldn’t fit. The only option was to reverse and take the original five-minute route.

The client was quite upset. In moments like that, there’s only one thing you can do: apologise and acknowledge the client is right.

Imagine you’re a PA considering booking Taylor. What would you say?

I’d say: don’t hesitate! We always present ourselves neatly, communicate well, and drive safely, smoothly and comfortably. We hold the right certifications and we’re discreet. You can rely on that 100%.
